Flag is simple (yet includes quite complex story of how it came to be) (you may notice soviet Latvia flag is more slavic designed, including sea and complex details etc.), and so on.

eew, such an immature answer.Although I believe soviet Latvia anthem may seem better (it's much longer and with more expressions), yet as it is, Soviet time anthem didn't represent our way, since latvians like to keep symbolic things concentrated, dense, short. For example our constitution is very short, especially main part (4 sentences).
