It's far less than 30%. It's about 10%, the percentage of people who consistently thought Barack Obama was a Muslim (not that it should have been a problem if he was) right up until election day. Ireland/the UK probably has a similar percentage of racists. When you have an Asian or African President/PM, then you can go around talking about American rednecks. Redneck is a slur, sort of like "gyp" for Irish Travellers, and in the same category as the n-word.
