World AIDS Day 2006 - African HIV Posters

Figures just released by UNAIDS and WHO estimate a world-wide population of people living with AIDS as 39.5 million, 24.7 million of whom live in Africa south of the Sahara. The poster collection of the Melville J. Herskovits Library of African Studies, Northwestern University, documents the efforts of African governments and private organizations to promote public awareness regarding HIV & AIDS. This three-minute video shows a small sample of posters drawn from the collection. In the near future, about 200 such posters will be added to the Herskovits Library poster website.
