do you mean before or after him? Because he wasn't the first to do any of those moves...not even a backflip. I wouldn't, then, say that he was "ahead of the curve"...and what does it mean to say that his "style was pain"?

That's just the problem though, Goldberg legitimately hurt people when he wasn't supposed to and...get this...didn't intend to. He lacked control and even simple moves like a side kick wound up seriously hurting other talent. Remember wrestling is supposed to be a show and it wouldn't be very prudent to have one guy hurting your other performers would it? So its not a GOOD thing and its not even something Goldberg would claim, that is, that he wanted to hurt talent...otherwise why not MMA?
