Frame Your Poster And Improve The Visual Aspect

Posters have become popular as a decorating feature. While it is thought by some that most posters are gaudy as a means of decoration, the truth is that there are many different types of poster art, some of which are highly sophisticated in nature. However, without framing the poster, the visual quality of the poster degrades tremendously.

A Little About Using Poster Frames

So why is framing your poster a wise idea? There are a number of reasons for using a poster frame to safeguard a poster, and they all are methods of both preserving the aesthetic look of the poster as it hangs on the wall as well as keeping the poster from harm or damage.

A poster is more than just mere decoration, it is also a work of art (novelty posters that display alcohol and such are obviously excluded). When one purchases a poster, especially a rare, collectable poster, it would not be wise to damage the poster by displaying it in a manner that would be considered neglectful.

Bad, Bad Ways Of Displaying Your Posters

Driving a tack through the poster in the wall perforates the poster. These perforations, will damage the poster, although they may seem minor at the time, they can expand under a number of circumstances as the poster is moved or taken down and tacked up a second time. Clearly, a poster frame would avoid such damage and would be preferable in terms of a method of display when compared to the use of tacks.

The other neglectful means of displaying a poster involves the use of scotch tape to put the poster up on a wall. In many ways, the use of scotch tape may do more damage to the poster than the tacks will do. The scotch tape may rip or tear layers of the poster. leaving horrible damage visible on the poster. Clearly, a poster frame would be a more advisable method of displaying the poster than the brutal use of scotch tape.

On a side note, both means of placing a poster on the wall make the poster look absolutely horrible as a means of decorating an interior. A ‘naked’ poster without a poster frame simply looks abominable and as if something important is missing. This is the reason why movie theaters use poster frames and not tacks or scotch tape to display a coming attraction poster. Poster frames enhance the integrity of poster art and should be employed whenever possible.
