Do I Ignore The Band Poster Or Do I Try To Find Out Why.

Most of us have at one stage or another had in our possession a poster of a band, pop group or rock star.  Now depending on how old you are, will depend on what the poster looked like.  You could have been in the sweet, clean-cut era or whoa!!  The Beatles, shock horror the parents went.  Today, well… parents can have a hard time figuring out just what part of the poster graphic is the ‘band’.

How The Band Posters Have Changed Over The Years.

Whichever era you belonged to, there was always that protectiveness from the parents.  They didn’t want their children exposed to whatever type of music the bands played at that time.  Today is the same, only you are now the parent.

You may not like the band poster your son or daughter has chosen but it is their choice, just like it was your choice when you were their age.  So relax, go with the flow and most likely it will pass.  Next month there will probably be a new band poster, could be a better one then again could be worse.

Some of the bands of today will stand the test of time, like The Beatles have and anyone who collected The Beatles band posters from back then when parents were going “shock, horror, what will they do to our children”, and have looked after them, have a valuable possession.

A few band posters from very recent years, worth looking after are bands like AD/DC, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, and Metallica.  There are others of course but more fade into the distance than remain.

Many of these band posters produced today are to be sold to the fans, often during a live concert or event.  If these band posters depict the event directly and it was a big event in the band’s career, then these are the posters that would be worth protecting and saving.  Often times these will be collectors’ items in years to come.  Collecting any posters is very popular now and band posters have a very good following.

What About The Future Of Band Posters

The current trend in music is always just that, like the next bus, there will be another one along soon.  So there will be another trend in band music along soon and fickle sons and daughters will hop on that next trend.

Mind you, as they may not be aware of the future value of a particular band poster, and you, with your vast experience in band trends, can see a certain band just may stand the test of time, then it is up to you to protect and take care of that band poster for your son or daughter.  You could look at it as an investment in their future and not just a band poster that you can’t figure out just where the band is in the picture.
